VMware Workstation for Linux "Error opening virtual machine"/ "This virtual machine is configured to run with 2 CPU but virtual machine only has 1 CPU #2
Comments
Your second picture shows that the virtual machine you imported is set with 2 CPUS, and your computer has only one CPU.
I don't know about Linux because I don't use the Linux version of VMware.
You can continue to wait for other people's reply here, although it is unlikely.
Then, let me explain that I am not the official VMware. Here is just a backup of the VMware software I have created to prevent me from finding the software installation package in the future.
Finally, my English is not good. This reply uses the English converted by Baidu translation. If there is any error or you do not understand it, I can only apologize.

@201853910 Well, I'm going to start off with describing to you what Linux is. So, Linux is a bit like Windows. It's a big computer program that lets you run other, smaller computer programs like Google Chrome and Office. In fact, it looks a lot like Windows, too. What makes Linux so special is that compared to Windows, it's safer and more reliable. There are thousands of people and companies who work on Linux, trying to make it better. They do this for free, and they allow it to be downloaded by ordinary people like yourself, without charge. This is because they use it themselves Also, there are a lot of types of Linux. I'll tell you some below: There's Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu, FreeBSD, NomadBSD, etc. So, onto the complicated stuff. So, the whole point of this post is that I'm trying to use the best software that I know, which is VMware, and I'm trying to run Windows 10 on it so I can run a game which my laptop by itself cannot run. But it dosen't work. So, I do know another software that I know, which is called Oracle VirtualBox that I could try. But before that, do you know any other software that I could use for VMs? |
First of all, I don't use Linux. The Linux system I am using, such as deepin. As for why I don't use VMware on Linux, maybe it doesn't have a Chinese version interface. To be honest, playing games on virtual machines is something I can't imagine. Because the performance of the virtual machine is not high. |
You can also try libvirt. But it's mostly for developers and VM farms that prefer open source solution.Though there is associated GUI for it but it's not stable enough and some advanced thing can't be configured from it. |
I downloaded the VMware Workstation 16 Player .bundle file for Linux (for the Windows executable click here) from the VMware download page and installed it using the following commands:
sudo sh VMware-Player-Full-16.2.4-20089737.x86_64.bundle
(after making it executable with
chmod +x VMware-Player-Full-16.2.4-20089737.x86_64.bundle
).And then I tried importing a virtual machine and it just gave me this message:
And then I tried running a virtual machine and it gave me this message:
So, can you guys give me some tips on how to fix this? Thanks!
