VSCode shortcuts for partial previewing (hot reloading, checkpoint_paste)

In his new video How I animate 3Blue1Brown, Grant shares his workflow when animating videos. See also the Workflow section of the videos repo Readme. I love that the scenes are rendered "live", that the output is interactive (can rotate around it) and that it's possible to only preview a particular part of the scene by highlighting the lines and pressing a shortcut. See for example this part of the video. This can tremendously reduce the turnaround time and therefore increase the joy while creating a video and fiddling with parameters ;)

Note

The keybindings are specific to the Sublime Text editor.
I was wondering if somebody of you has figured out a way to do all of this in VSCode as well?
