This question is a bit unrelated to your code, but I hope you can answer it. You have divided the cases into inpatient and profee. How did you identify which cases are inpatient and which a profee? Manually or automatic? If automatic, how do you do it?

Thanks for your interest; we're glad that it could help your project!
The same MIMIC encounters were coded for multiple purposes, where ICD-9 CM (diagnosis) and PCS (procedure) codes were assigned for Inpatient coding, and the CM and CPT (procedure) codes were used for Profee coding. MDACE sampled from the same MIMIC encounters. Profee used a subset of the Inpatient encounters, with the main difference in procedure codes.
