AdGuard Home started off as a side project that we pursued simply because we love what we do. Over time, it has grown into a widely popular project with a large user base. We're thrilled about this, but it has also led to a lot of activity in our repository. People are constantly opening new issues, asking questions, and requesting new features every day.
The development is handled by a small team, and we don't have any managers to help sort through the influx of user reports. This puts a significant strain on our developers and distracts us from further developing AdGuard Home.
To address this issue, we're asking for the community's help and are looking for individuals willing to become community moderators for AdGuard Home.
Responsibilities of Community Moderators
1. Review incoming Issues in the AdGuard Home Github repository
First and foremost, the task needs to be categorized. Is it a bug, a feature request, or a question? If it's a question, it should be immediately moved to the Discussions section (which is likely the most common case).
If you believe a bug or a feature request is crucial, please escalate the issue to the developers immediately and we will collectively decide in which version the solution will be included.
2. Help with responses in the Discussions
Please, as much as you can, assist users with their queries in the Discussions section.
Requirements for Community Moderators
You should be an experienced AdGuard Home user.
You should be knowledgeable about Linux, networks, and DNS and DHCP protocols. Experience with Raspberry Pi is preferred.
You should have a good command of the English language. If you speak other languages, please mention that as well.
What You Get in Return
Community Moderators have a direct line of communication with the developers through a Slack channel.
Every year, we at AdGuard reward our most active contributors.
Licenses for any AdGuard software upon request.
You'll get a chance to participate directly in the development of one of the world's most popular network-level ad blockers!
How to Apply
Send an email to "[email protected]" with the subject "Application to community moderators".
In the email, tell us a bit about yourself, your specialties, how long you've been using AdGuard Home, and so on.
Please be sure to include a link to your Github account. We will select up to three moderators within two weeks and get in touch.
