Audiveris as Container/VM in Proxmox

I am running a Mac-Only LAN with a Synology and (new) a MacMini/64 running Proxmox providing different Services.

I used Audiveris fom inside Musescore for some years, but since 1/2 year I don‘t receive valid files. Don‘t ask me why???

So I was thinking of installing the Software locally. The Proxmox-Server seems to be a good place, because by doing so it can be accessed from every Computer in the LAN.

Any ideas how this can be realized and how the GUI can be accessed (Safari/VNC?).

I will let Mac experts (which I'm not) answer your question.
For a Mac environment, there is no installer. You will have to clone and build the Audiveris project (see this Handbook section).

I don't think that this is a special Mac-thing. I just mentioned that I use Macs to avoid any creative solutions on a WIN System.

Proxmox is a virtual environment running on Debian. I think of installing Audiveris on a seperate Container inside Proxmox and access the user interface via the Browser on every Computer in the LAN using VNC (that's the normal way to do).

But I am not a specialist in these things. Maybe someone did this before and can help.

Hi all,

at least I was a little bit successful...

Creating a VM in proxmox is very easy, so I tried and was successful. BUT ...

• During installation I realized that Audiveris brings his own GUI, so I don't really need one for the Linux-OS-basis.
• Audiveris was not able to access files on an open directory on my Synology. I had to go back to OS for file exchange :-(
• It was only possible to run Audiveris inside the Terminal-View of Proxmox - which is too small for Software like this.

So I decided to (1.) do a new installation on a non-GUI Linux and (2.) try to bring it in a Browser or VNC-Viewer.

As I am no the big UNIX-Freak I asked Chattie for help and the KI told me that Audiveris has a Browser GUI - so that it can run it completely in the Browser and by doing so can exchange files easily with everything that is connected to my remote Computer.
Cool idea - I thought - go for it.

What shall I say … Chattie cheated on me! It is possible to use a Web GUI - as long as you develop it by yourself from the Audiveris API … Thanks for nothing but three days of unnecessary experiences.

I will now go the vnc way …

Okay, i finally made it - but there is one little issue ...
I tried several ways and Linux distributians and GUIs and finally used the following:

• Install Debian Gnome (and uninstall the whole unnecessary stuff)
• install NoMachine (VNC-Solution which is free for private use)
• install Audiveris via flathub

Everything works perfect - except one thing: I want to have the pdf's and the resulting .xml's on a shared folder on my Synology. I have mounted the folder to /user/home/ - but I can't see the folder in Audiveris. It shows only the Pictures and Documents folders. So I created a Link and put it into the Documents Folder - but this is not shown a a folder, but as a Text-File.

How can I access the files in the shared and mounted folder?
