On danbooru and other -booru sites you can specify author as a tag - is that possible on Pixiv?
And do you have to be logged in on Pixiv to download?

That said, if you are or are not logged in, will the output differ (say, fo example for a loli tag on yande.re or danbooru)?

Yui doesn't include an option to log in to any of supported imageboards (yet), since I didn't examine the advantages of doing so.

You don't have to be logged in to Pixiv in order to download hi-res images (since Yui sends the referrer of search page) - this is advantage over manual download, which normally requires logging in to view hi-res images. About author tag searching: basically everything that can be searched through Pixiv is downloadable with Yui. So if you can search for certain autor the same way you search for tags, then yes, it is possible.

However since initial release of Yui I have discovered few bugs/incorrectly handled situations (for example both JPG and PNG versions of vector images on Yande.re, I think), so I'll be probably correcting and refactoring the code soon.

Some of advantages that might be considered for logging option:

• some image boards block certain tags (most notably tag "loli") when not logged in
• yande.re allows to download collections of some pools, might reduce the load on their servers
• you can get to profiles of authors on pixiv (http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?id=) - the author name doesn't have to be unique on pixiv, so search by author isn't possible, sadly.
