I think it would be great to have a section in the home for Groups and Users you're following to see what's upcoming on the front page. Another nice thing to have is some sort of calendar system for Groups and their events, Users and what events they're playing at and at what time, and an overall calendar one for all the groups you're following and one for all the users you're following.

I really like the calendar idea, although it'll take a decent amount of development resources. I'll start fleshing out some concepts soon.

I can probably combine this into a "feed" page, and also have a user's followed events, groups, and users appear on their profile.

I might need to add a "private profile" option for those who don't want the stuff they're following to be public.
