Just cant get this working , can any one give me some ideas

Hi I have built this using the exact parts in the doc (no accelerometer). Installed VSCode on a new clean Windows 10 machine, opened the unzipped T£ Wifi Master zip. Compiled ok. Added .json and icons to a 4gb SD and inserted into screen. Did Upload File System Image (completed ok) then did Upload and Monitor and i get

Looks like it's trying to load.
Was the SD card formatted with FAT32?

Yes the card was formatted FAT32. I also tried a 32Gb SD card.
Trying to debug this issue I have a couple of questions:

Does the hand controller need the lipo battery plugged in or should it work including TFT from the USB power alone?
What are the message about "equestFrom(): i2cRead returned Error 263"
The screen is blank is there any way to prove the screen is working?
Can I put some debug in the code to print to the console ? If so how do I do that?

With nothing visible its really hard to see where the issue is. What can I do next ?

It'll work off USB.

Thinking if the screen and SD card isn't working the ribbon cable for the display might not be seated correctly. It can be a bit fiddly to fit.

Yes I had that thought and I have had a good look at it and reseated a couple of times, the other thing is the orientation. ill try to take some pics of my board
I have 3 fire beetles and 2 screens so I have spares to test but with no visual signs it so hard to figure it out. How do I add some serial write to the code to see it on the VS Terminal ? Is this possible and I can move this through the code maybe??

Looking at the picture of the ribbon connector, it looks like the ribbon is connected to the screen with the contacts facing upwards.
The contacts should be facing down on the screen connector and towards the esp32 chip on the fire beetle.

Ive just spotted the same, only one side of the ribbon has the connectors. Im just swapping it,

Thankyou both. That was it, never spotted the ribbon was handed.
Also the header into the ESP from encoder was 3 pins and should be 4 with a NC pin.
Got both boards and screens working
Is full source available or are there compiled libraries? Im looking to add a shunting screen as i have developed DCC controlled uncoupling on wagons and coaches.

Hi thanks for the reply.
So tonight i did upload and monitor.
Pressed On All, On Main and On Prog. All 3 buttons turned solid as if they are on.
I pressed By Address then the 3 lines top right to return to the main screen all power buttons are now turned off

As previously mentioned if i turn the power on in the CS terminal the correct button is toggled on - on the handset.

Could this be an issue with the latest release of DC EX?

Ok. scrap that. I re-uploaded the CS and now works on both handsets. Very odd

There is some extra functionality which requires adding a file to the CS code and re-uploading but the throttle should still work without it.

Did you get the SD cards working too?
