Rotary Encoder reaction time

I don't know if its just mine but the encoder reaction seems really slow. If I turn the knob a few steps at one time it will only register 1 of the steps. As far as I can tell it will only step 1 step per second or so. This makes for pretty slow operation. Is this by design?

Seems to me if I turn the dial 5 steps it should respond 5 steps. I have several other projects using encoders and they respond like that.

Thoughts?

This could be some lag from waiting for the loco broadcast back from the CS.
I'll need to try some changes and see if I can improve the reaction speed.

Testing some changes for this which should speed up encoder reaction but it still depends on your WiFi speed.

Pushed these changes to the repo.
Single throttle response speed has been improved but unfortunately multiple throttles do add some lag because of the broadcast.

I recently build a new Dcc-EX commandstation using an ESP-32 as a base.
It took some time figuring out how to make it all work as it is still a beta.
Using this command station the connection to my two t3 throttles is much more reliable, and very responsive.

Having an ESP32 based CS is definitely the way to go if you can.
Testing with a Mega+ESP8266 there's a delay when sending data to multiple clients that I can't work around.
