Context

I think that you should be able to melt Diamond amber in the Porcelain Melter / Smeltery, as in early game stages diamond amber could go to waste. I also think that you should be able to use diamonds to create the Gem Casts, as if you follow the advancement progression, emerald actually comes later than diamonds.

On being able to melt diamond amber - you can.

On making gem casts from diamond - this is a convenience item. Before this point you can cast diamond blocks in the basin. Gating it behind emeralds seems fine, given they are not a challenging upgrade from diamond saplings.

I'm fine with keeping emeralds as the gem casts, but you still can't melt Diamond Amber in the Tinker's Construct melter. You can in the NuclearCraft melter, but that's later in the game.

Okay, for some reason I looked at resin instead of amber. This applies to:

  • Clay
  • Lapis
  • Emerald
  • Quartz
  • Diamond
