can't make onsen tamago

hello! sorry if im doing this wrong. i put the magma block/campfire/lava right under the cauldron filled with water
and when i throw the egg into the cauldron it does not turn into an onsen tamago.

i see the item in the creative menu but i cannot seem to make it, also when i put the egg and cook it in a furnace the onsen tamago also doesn't show up.

is this on fabric? If so this bug is fixed in the newest release for fabric. You can update to resolve this.
