The Wiki has not been updated in a while. Need to check who is managing Translations now and update members on the who-is-who page.

What's meant by "handling translations"? Translations of what? Handling how?

Thanks @das-g for those comments.

The wiki documentation may have been done before tutorial extension, so the wiki talks of Tutorial and who is managing probably merging and reviewing of the PRS, that what we mean by translation managers.

  • According to this section in Django Girls internal wiki which tries to document how the foundation works, there are translation managers. However, only former members are listed and no current members. You have already identified @magul as the one using automated scripts to extract content and opening pull requests for updating individual languages and I would consider @magul as one of the current translation managers. As it is the new trustees do not know who is doing what and your comments actually help us address this gap.
  • We are still transitioning in terms of accounts from old trustees/founders to the new trustees. Your concern over the Crowdin account being in @olasitarska's personal account is duly noted and we will see how this can be rectified. It is important for the foundation to handle that. We will look into how Crowdin works.
  • The way Translation Extensions are being handled may also be something the foundation needs to look at. One challenge I admit is there is a disconnect between the foundation and committers since the old trustees stepped down. Am hoping documenting who is doing what in the Wiki may address this as we will know who to work with to document processes and streamline processes.
  • https://github.com/DjangoGirls/translation-guide has not been updated in more than 5 years so may also need updating.
  • The other resources you listed are not translated I think. We are also working on making sure the website gets translated by using Django internationalization. It's part of our to-do list.

If you have any other contributers you know who are actively working on the Tutorial and Tutorial Extensions merging PRs etc, you think we should add that would be great. I was just going to check the notifications on Slack and see who has been reviewing PRs and reach out to them as well as check with the #committers when I finally get to this issue.

This issue is part of the documentation exercise for the foundation. If you check the Wiki, it still mentions @aniav as part of the Support Team when she stepped down before Ola and Ola. So we are somewhat behind with our documentation but we will get there and get it right.

Thanks!
