On DoES

  • DoES is a collaboration of local Liverpool and region people from a diverse set of backgrounds including engineers, creatives, makers, hobbyists.

  • DoES has been around a long time - 9 years+

  • DoES exists as a framework for the community to contribute to the social good. It is incorporated as a community interest company (or CIC) is a special form of non-charitable limited company, which exists primarily to benefit a community or with a view to pursuing a social purpose, rather than to make a profit for shareholders.

  • We have excellent local and national networks and are widely respected.

On the PPE project

  • We have a team of 20+ people working 24/7 on this to help the NHS and community workers (social care, GP surgeries, dentists, opthalmists, food delivery, shopkeepers)

  • We're working locally, engaging nationally and internationally during this crisis

  • NHS trusts have signed off on what we are doing, have ordered, and our team are manufacturing PPE visors NOW

"We currently have teams working with 7 laser cutting machines in the Liverpool area. Our expectation is we can provide 10,000 PPE visors a week. If you know a business with a laser cutter standing idle please ask them to contact us at [email protected] so we can increase that number. We need tens of millions nationally"

  • We are actively pursuing official approvals for our designs.

  • All the knowledge we have captured on PPE manufacture from medical professionals is OpenSource and available here. This enables other groups to shortcut the spin-up process which has taken us two weeks.

  • You can download and use our 3D printer designs and Laser Cuttable designs NOW and get started .See here

  • You can use our "issues" sections for information on the design process and where to source materials for manufacture. See here

  • We are actively engaged with the Design and Technology Association to enable the education sector to join us in this effort

  • We are working locally and engaging nationally (such as with 3DCrowd.uk and their logistics network with DHL)

On actions

  • We are reaching out to people with 3D printing and laser cutting capability to work with our "blueprint" to fulfil orders

  • If you are in any business or charitable networking group such as breakfast clubs or the rotary please reach out and ask if they can help

@ajlennon @zarino peeps likely gonna be stretched for time, so liking the idea of keeping it all in bullets.

What do you think of this?

DoES PPE Springboard

ppe.doesliverpool.com/springboard

Who is this for?

If you have a laser cutter and want to produce virors to help tackle the covid 19 epidemics—this is for you.

Who are the people behind DoES PPE?

  • We are a team that has spun out of DoES Liverpool—a 9+ year old community maker space based in central Liverpool, UK.
  • We are a mixture of; designers, software engineers, Internet of Things hobbyists, 3D printers, laser cutters operations bods and more.

What are we doing to help with the PPE Shortage?

  • We have taken the 3D printed Prusa designs from Czech Ministry of Health
  • We have collaborated with a number of different NHS doctors from different specialities to design a laser cut version of the mask
  • The key benefit of laser cutting is that we can produce one visor every 2 minutes vs. 40 minutes to 3D print. Near on x20 more output
  • Big teaching hospitals such as, Liverpool Royal, Aintree Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary have accepted the visors and have placed orders.
  • We are actively pursuing official approvals for our designs.
  • We are working locally and engaging nationally (such as with 3DCrowd.uk and their logistics network with DHL)
  • We are actively engaged with the Design and Technology Association to enable the education sector to join us in this effort

Get started
