Unfortunately I don't have more details right now because I was investigating someone else's capture. It looks like they had a laser module on Mun pointing towards Kerbin:

Two things:

  1. whatever is allocating in here probably shouldn't be
  2. I'm assuming that this is slow because it's doing some kind of iterative query. Surely at these ranges we don't need to? Or maybe that's the whole draw of the idea of lasers...but the last 3 digits being 0 kind of tells me that it's not getting more precise than 10m anyway.

@StormCircuit if you could run that capture with gc callstack capturing and/or -deepprofiling ot would be hugely helpful
