Same issue, wsl just hangs with prebuilt kernel. I'm using a pretty weak laptop so I can't compile it myself, also my driver is already in this kernel so I don't need to manually add it. Prebuilt kernel with all default drivers enabled will be a huge help.
System: Windows 10 Home 22H2
No other options in wslconfig, just kernel=path
I tried using the "prebuilt" kernel in the releases section but I got this error:
Wsl/Service/CreateInstance/CreateVm/HCS_E_CONNECTION_TIMEOUT
if I try to run wsl another time it stucks and does nothing more than using my cpu at 50%. I waited some hours but nothing changed.
