We've deployed changes to https://open-vsx.org/about, including a permanent link to join the Open VSX Slack channel. Goal is to consolidate messaging there. Now that that link is live we should shut down https://app.gitter.im/#/room/#eclipse_openvsx:gitter.im. I'll post a notification message and pointer. I'm thinking we should make the forum read only for a while and then remove it. Or if we can't make it read only, leave it up with the notification for say a month or so and then shut it down. But, those require admin superpowers which I don't have. @spoenemann, @amvanbaren is that you?

No, I'm not a Gitter admin.

I don't know how to shut down the Gitter room. I only see how to make it private.

The screenshots in that documentation look outdated. I don't see the same options.

I'm wondering if we can use the admin to do it, or perhaps tell us how:

@spoenemann Maybe as an owner you can ask the admin to close/archive or make read only?

I don't know, how do I reach out to an admin there?

Isn't it sufficient to have your post about moving to Slack there? I could also add another such post from my side.

@spoenemann I was just thinking from their perspective, I'm just a random person. Such a request would be more credible coming from one of the owners. Can you DM the Gitter badger?
