Prerequisites:
The background request from the react app fails for whatever reason.

Current behaviour:
The UI shows no feedback, simply just nothing happens.

Intended behaviour:
Display the error message (alert style) returned by the API, if any. If none, display at least "Application error, try again or reload the page." alert message.
