After doing some testing on my own account, I was reasonably confident that a) rerunning it would not create duplicates and b) that the labels would be readded and c) that labels are added as each email is restored. Rerunning it on the target account does seem to have worked. I still have no idea why the labels weren't restored in the first place. Also weirdly, I had to remove the '-restored.sqlite' database for the restore to run a second time because of a 'type' error. Checking that database showed that the 'restored_messages' table had one TEXT field for the restored messages that appears to contain a universal ID of some sort but, the same field in the db create when I was testing restores with my own account was INTEGER. Was always using the same version (1.80—I know it's not the latest but it's the latest that will run on this particular computer) and the only difference in the commands was the email address and whether '--label-restored' was used and what that label was. Just in case anyone is interested. |

I backed up email from one account that I then restored to another account. The labels were not restored with the email, which I believe is the default behaviour unless you have used --strip-labels (right?). All the email appears to have been restored and I double-checked the backup's msg-db.sqlite and all the labels appear to be there. So I'm a little mystified as to why they didn't show up.
It looked like the restore completed successfully, but to be honest I didn't really inspect the output carefully so it's possible I missed an error.
I was going to just try re-running the restore but before I do so, just wanted to confirm that it's unlikely to cause duplicate emails to be created right? Documentation explicitly says that for a restore to the same account, but leaves it ambiguous if we're talking about re-running the restore on a different account. I believe this is going to be the case.
Also, I was wondering where the application of labels occurs in the restore process? Is it: "restore on email, apply its label" or "restore all emails, apply all labels". It's a lot of email and so a lengthy restore and I'm just wondering if, for diagnostic purposes, I should expect labels to start appearing early or late in the process...
