I can't reproduce this in dev. Can you attach a log?
Okay, I've attached a log.
Here's some more information about how i tested the issue:
I'm using an otherwise unmodified version of GTNH 2.7.0 installed via MultiMC on Windows 11. I set B:useLighterWater=false to B:useLighterWater=true in hodgepodge.cfg. After starting the game, I created a new world and pressed F3. I located and submerged myself in naturally generated water and observed the sl and rl light level indicators decrement by 3 per block depth instead of 1.
The water lighting also appeared visually darker to me than modern versions of Minecraft or OptiFine's clear water feature on 1.7.10.
