Talos Principle 2: stutters when passing through force field effects #2065
Comments
Might be an issue with the Wine\Proton itself, as per ValveSoftware/Proton#7237 (comment) I've tested two different versions of Proton from 8.0 branch, and it seems that this issue is not present with them. |
For any tester trying to reproduce this should make a VKD3D_QUEUE_PROFILE. Maybe there's something actionable in there. |
No stuttering here with 6900XT, using current master for mesa, proton bleeding-edge, and vkd3d-proton. |
After coming back to the game I experienced the same kind of stuttering that I hadn't had before. From my testing it related to having a controller connected when playing. When I unplugged the controller in between a game restart the stuttering disappeared. Here's a recording of it happening. As you can see the first two clips show the exact stuttering, but in the third clip it's completely gone. So I don't think this is a vkd3d issue. I will post this in the other thread here ValveSoftware/Proton#7237 (comment). |

As can be seen, when the player's avatar passes through force field (violet field), or force field animation is being played (blue fields), the game stutters with very noticeable frame drops.
A few months prior I've finished the game fully, and noticed no such issues.
