This should be the case for other things as well, not just areas. For example, I should be able to change the music for each boss individually, rather than only having the options that already have separate music. |

In vanilla Ocarina of Time, Hyrule Field, Hyrule Castle, Death Mountain Trail, Zora's River, Zora's Fountain, and Lake Hylia all share the same background music, as does Gerudo Valley, Gerudo's Fortress, Haunted Wasteland, and Desert Colossus. Thus, changing the background music in the Audio Editor for "Hyrule Field" or "Gerudo Valley" affects every area the music tracks play in.
Since these areas are arguably different from each other aesthetically (i.e., a mountain vs. a lake), it would be cool if, for more variance and flexibility, especially with custom music, the Audio Editor had an enhancement in the Options tab, turned off by default, that when checked alters the Background Music tab so that the music for each of the aforementioned areas can be changed individually, rather than all together. Meaning that the list doesn't just have Hyrule Field and Gerudo Valley, but also has all of the other areas, too. By default, these additionally listed areas would have their standard music tracks.
If this requires too much of a change to the code, no problem. This is just an idea that I wanted to suggest.
EDIT: I forgot that there are other examples of shared songs in the vanilla game, so here's every group of areas sharing a song in list form for the purpose of clarity:
And as mentioned below by KingdaToro, this is also the case with the boss battle music:
