This is an attempt to capture an overview of the analysis using a diagram + description and links to code below.

Context

We are trying to determine which areas are suitable for DRT and which should (continue to) be served by a fixed route bus service.

Travel demand (OD pairs)

Decisions / Analysis

Redundancy / route importance

• What is the total demand that is uniquely served by each route? We use the output from (5)
• Are there any routes that don't uniquely serve any OD pairs?
  • Should this route be removed? Or is it useful for redundancy?

Travel speed

• Rank OD pairs by speed. Why is travel between certain OD pairs slow?
  • in-vehicle time ---> need a bus lane (can't do anything
  • waiting time ---> need to improve frequency
  • transfers / transfer time ---> need a direct service?
