ASXE is currently an experimental ruleset that should take the place of the main ruleset when it matures.
Right now one of the main issues people have with AS ruleset is that usability of ramp jump is very limited while it also makes you have less control over your movement and makes you an easier target.
The air control that's currently present in CPM and ASXE (15% of CPM's air control) rulesets makes ramp jumping very handy as it makes it possible to make your movement in the air harder to predict as well as lets you reach places you otherwise wouldn't but on the other hand it's off-putting to many AS/VQ3 players when moving around.
The best solution would be to have CPM-style air control in ASXE ruleset only after a player performed a ramp jump. It would make ramp jumps better and would increase the viability of maps designed for CPM while not disturbing people who are only used to AS and VQ3 too much.
