I'm loving i3-ressurect, it really helps improve my workflow. However when I restore a workspace it generates an extra redundant window. I'm using debian and i3-gaps.

Any idea what I should do or what could be causing this?

Same here, i3 gaps manjaro, emacs starts in another frame and leaves the first frame empty

tested with :
i3-wm 4.21.1-1;
i3-gaps
i3-gaps-rounded-git 4.20.1.r84.g8e5eed5b-1
i3-resurrect 1.4.5-1

if that helps

Afortunately it makes it unusable, although it would be very useful...

I made it work by reinstalling emacs... no idea why it didn't work.
