Checklist

  • This feature I'm requesting is already implemented in yt-dlp.
  • This feature is merely a UI/UX update.
  • This feature is suitable for primary users with little knowledge about yt-dlp.
  • This feature is available for most websites, not only the video platform I use.
  • This feature is suitable for a large variety of videos.
  • This feature is not going to conflict with many of the existing options.

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

There is a feature that seems to have been removed after Version 1.9.2 which was to be able to download videos in 4K (2160p) resolution with the mp4 extension. In Version 1.10.0 onwards if you want to download a video in 1440p or 4K (2160p) you can only download a video in "Video Format Preference" in "Quality" with the extension of mkv video. As an additional piece of information in the before Version 1.10.0 was released. In Version 1.9.2 there was no "Video Format Preference" option since the Video format you needed could be chosen at your choice and the resolution and with that you could download your video in a Custom Way.

It would help me a lot if the Ability to Download 4K Videos with mp4 Extension was returned. :D
I thank you for your understanding of reading the message and your effort to develop this amazing and powerful App.

Additional context

Now that I want to Download a movie that is on YouTube for a limited time I can't download it in 4K (2160p) in mp4 format only mkv. If I wanted to have it in mp4 I would have to put "Video Format Preference" in "Legacy" in 1080p resolution with mp4 and use a rescaler or Download it in "Quality" mkv 4K and Convert it to mp4.
