One thing I'm just stumbling about:

https://helpfiles.keysight.com/csg/n5106a/scpi_basics.htm

says:

"Lower case, either the short form or the complete long form, is also acceptable."

If I'm not mistaken, using strncmp rather than memcmp should do the trick.
