Can't see what other SHKs an image is in, if not added by the OP #801

Small chat about it on the Slack. |
"Add to Shakes" / "In These Shakes" are all about management and visibility of the post and where it appears in terms of the shakes you have rights to post to. The "Saves" tab at the top right of the post page will indicate which users have saved a copy. Only those copies can then be added to shakes those users have access to post to. But the post that is added to those shakes are not the original post, but a clone of it. Saving a post you didn't create makes a clone of it. It becomes a copy that be edited (by the person doing the "save") in terms of title, description etc. It has its own distinct counters for views, saves, likes, etc. Adding a post you created to a shake you manage or can post to, does NOT make a copy of the post. It's a reference to the original. As such, the same title, description, etc., is the same. Editing the original post affects the way it appears in the shake it has been added to. The contents of "In These Shakes" are in control of the person who created the post (likewise, for a save - a clone - that user is in control of what is shown for "In These Shakes"... it does not reference the original shake or shakes the original has been added to). Expanding this to list all shakes associated with all copies of the post is new territory. My main concern about it is that it is a potential avenue for abuse or griefing. Imagine someone saving a post and putting it in a shake that the original poster does not approve of; now that shake is linked from their post, whether they like it or not. This may be intentionally abusive (someone saves a post to a shake named "Garbage"), or could be considered offensive in any number of ways depending on the name of the shake or the contents of it (like, imagine if this post of mine were saved and added to a shake named "People who should be fired"). The poster has no recourse unless we also have some tools for them to counteract, but then that adds a degree of "spam management" duties to MLTSHP. |
Yeah can totally see what you're saying, maybe there's a way to have this functionality but not have it seem like we're adding something that you have to have attached to your post no matter what. Maybe downplay it? I was just thinking "What a great tool for SHK discovery"since otherwise that's harder to do and people leave all these comments like "Saved to blabity bla SHK" |
It would be nice to maybe have an “Also in…” or something so you could more easily discover cool SHKs, maybe under the "In These SHKs" box?
