In https://github.com/MicrosoftEdge/WebAppsDocs/blob/master/en-US/win10/CreateHWA.md, there is a reference to getting a blank JavaScript app. This does not seem to be available in Visual Studio 2015 Enterprise Edition. You may want to add an aside that explains how to search for and/or install the necessary template.

Hey @RobDolinMS, during installation, did you select the Universal Windows App Development Tools? There are also some templates here that will allow you to skip step 3. In the meantime we should probably add that into the documentation since it doesn't look like it's checked by default.

Thanks @alxlu. I just accepted the defaults when installing VS 2015 Enterprise; but the direct link to the templates (and then close and re-open VS) seems to work for me.

I just finished installing VS Community 2015 with Update 1 and had the same problem.

I followed the advice of @alxlu and installed the templates only to run into yet another problem described in the Q&A section of https://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/49cdc7d0-95e7-48dd-8a6a-141cb66e726e

The only thing more off putting than a tutorial that fails at step 1 is one that has an epic fail at step 1!
