How would you like to see geoh5py cited? I am reviewing an article that points to the docs for a reference, but it would be nice to have a doi and reference. One avenue is to use zenodo: https://zenodo.org/. There is some good documentation for setting this up here: https://docs.github.com/en/repositories/archiving-a-github-repository/referencing-and-citing-content. You can choose how you want authorship to be done: naming individuals, or some projects start with "Geoh5py contributors" or similar as the first author.
