FR: Make it easy to create data sets with multiple characteristics as different columns

For modeling purposes, and likely other things as well, it would be nice to be able to make a data.frame with multiple characteristics or categories or sites but each one in a different column - for example to compare temperature and DO, or a measure between nearby streams.

Probably makes sense to add togetWData() as an option
