Spack check failing with recent spack version release #559

Spack check is failing with the following error:

==> g2c: Executing phase: 'cmake'
==> g2c: Executing phase: 'build'
==> Error: TestFailure: 1 test failed.


'G2c' object has no attribute 'builder'

RUN-TESTS: method not implemented [check]

Setting spack-ref to a previous release in the workflow file fixes the error.

I'm getting the same error in the g2 library as well.
