not sure if an explanation like this would help in the tutorial as it looks different in TOPPView.

this definitely helps. it may even be something we could add to TOPPView -- eg start in MS1 and then have a button "look at MS1 isolation window" to evaluate precursor purity etc and it could produce an image similar to the one above.

I like it. It explains the concept well, there is no need for a 1:1 mapping to what TOPPView can do
