CMIP7 historical stratospheric aerosol optical properties and volcanic stratospheric sulfur emissions

The latest version of our datasets (1.2.0) includes piControl climatology files for aerosol optical properties and should be available on ESGF January 6 or 7. Please note that version 1.2.0 does not include yet many small eruptions (<<10 Tg SO2) pre-satellite era. We hope to release a first version fixing this bias by january 15 2025. This change will increase the piControl stratospheric aerosol optical depth baseline by ~20-30% compared to version 1.2.0.
