Fatal error when running example program on Raspi Model B #389

I am trying to run the example programs on a Raspi Model B with Java 17. When I select one of the options (3) SimpleLed_App (com.pi4j.catalog.applications.SimpleLed_App)) the JVM throws fatal error and stops.

Tried it with a model 3, but also got an exception :( :

Looking at the second error where the fail is initialization. Did you start the application with sudo ? Pigpio requires sudo to access the Pi pins

Running with sudo helped. The simple example with an LED (https://www.pi4j.com/examples/components/simpleled/) worked fine. Then I tried to run the LCD example (https://www.pi4j.com/examples/components/lcddisplay/) but it stopped with this exception

Maybe I am using the wrong type of display? (Grove-LCD RGB Backlight V5.0, https://wiki.seeedstudio.com/Grove-LCD_RGB_Backlight/). Do you have any suggestions?

The error says no device was found on i2c bus 1 device address 0x27 as expected by the program default values. Use raspi-config to be certain the i2c interface is enabled. Use command
i2cdetect -y 1 and Is device 0x27 listed. If not listed check bus 0 as I don't know what is the normal i2c bus on an original B pi. If your devices uses a different device address change the java code or your device if it allows. Your other point on the model display you are using. You would need to see what the example intended to use and compare its data sheet to the one you attached.

Thanks for the hint. The display i used seems to be incompatible with the library. I ordered an other one and it works fine :)
