RIMMF: What should RIMMF use as the default qualifier for an Expression #12

RDA 6.27.3 instructs us to construct an AAP for an Expression by adding certain identifying data for the Expr to the AAP of the Work. Currently, RIMMF uses 'Content Type' data as the default qualifier to identify an Expression.

It has been suggested that we should consider using 'Language' data instead, as the default. We see some merit in this suggestion, but are concerned that current LC/NACO practice is only to add Language data to the 'heading' when the expression is a translation.

This would change:
Austen, Jane, 1775-1817. Emma (for Work)
Austen, Jane, 1775-1817. Emma. Chinese (for Expression)
Austen, Jane, 1775-1817. Emma. Czech (for Expression)
Austen, Jane, 1775-1817. Emma. Romanian (for Expression)
Austen, Jane, 1775-1817. Emma. Text (for Expression)

To:
Austen, Jane, 1775-1817. Emma (for Work)
Austen, Jane, 1775-1817. Emma. English (for Expression)
Austen, Jane, 1775-1817. Emma. Chinese (for Expression)
Austen, Jane, 1775-1817. Emma. Czech (for Expression)
Austen, Jane, 1775-1817. Emma. Romanian (for Expression)

Question:

  • Should we change the RIMMF default identifier for an Expression AAP from 'Content Type' to 'Language'?
