vector: choice of to/from direction? #77

Hi John, what style are you using to plot the data? There should be a corresponding |
Ah, yes it doesn't look like those styles are supported in TDS. In fact, the styles are all specific to TDS - ncWMS doesn't natively support As an aside, we don't support wind barbs with a reversed direction, because (I believe) they are already strictly defined, unlike general arrows. |
OK, thanks Guy!

stumpvec, vector, or barb (by those names). I think this is one for the
Unidata team - ncWMS has supported these for a while, so it's either a case
of updating to the latest version (which they may have already done in a
later TDS version), or explicitly including styles with the revered arrow
style.

Hi ncWMS,
It would be great if there was an extra configuration parameter to select what direction the vectors are drawn when combining the u/v components. Currently, ncWMS defaults to only the "to" direction, which is the oceanographic convention for ocean currents. However, the meteorological convention for wind is the opposite "from" direction. Would be nice to be able to toggle the vectors that ncWMS draws in either direction with a simple "to" or "from" URL parameter named "direction" (or something akin to that). Many thanks for a great product, which has been useful to our users for years. I pass along this suggestion from one of our users.
Cheers,
