Issue installing fs-uae due to removal of launcher from repositories #4015

The fs-uae installer no longer works due to the removal of fs-uae-launcher being removed from the (debian?) ubuntu repositories. The github for the launcher looks like it's not been updated since 2022 as of writing this comment. I looked at the flatpak recently and even this is not consistently working and quite out of date.

Having said that, there is a new(ish) version that has been automatically compiled (and seems to work) available at https://fs-uae.net/builds/master maybe this could be installed instead of using the repositories?

Honestly it is not really clear how the FS-UAE project is progressing or if it is now properly abandoned by the owner. I'll try writing a script to install FS-UAE + Launcher from the master branch when I get a chance and post it here later.

Thanks for bringing this up.

Indeed, it seems FS-UAE development has stopped due to the maintainer not being present anymore (not only in the Github repository, but also in the forums where they were active) since 2022. As such, the PPA for Ubuntu 24.04 is missing the release from 2022, without any packages being built for it.

I think there haven't been any releases since 2022 so any binary download from either the URL you found or directly from https://fs-uae.net/files/FS-UAE/Master would work. There's a semi-active fork for FS-UAE (https://github.com/jacereda/fs-uae) and a source install from it might work.
