It’s been a while since all the sustainability solutions I found were on the infrastructure or backend side, but never for the frontend. So, as an FrontEnd Developer, I decided to take matters into my own hands! They told me I couldn’t call my talk 'How to delete 70% of calls to an API of the homepage without affecting users' because it was too much clickbait, but that’s exactly what we did! So, let me introduce you to an efficient solution for sustainability in the world of Frontend! In this talk, you will discover our journey of 4 months at Leboncoin to achieve a production-ready result, as well as the key steps we took to implement and fine-tune Soft Disabling for a feature.Your stack doesn't matter. As long as you are a frontend developer, you will gain insights into the challenges faced, the collaboration between multiple professions to develop an efficient tool, and the strategic decisions made to balance user experience with resource consumption, offering a practical roadmap for any team looking to implement a similar solution.
