I've noticed I can access any of the websites I block with SelfControl by simply editing the hosts file manually at /etc/hosts.
Previous to using SelfControl I was editing the hosts file manually if I wanted to block a website. I was hoping SelfControl would help me gain control over my Youtube addiction by preventing / blocking my access to the hosts file. However, it seems I can still edit the file and deactivate each entry in the SelfControl blocklist manually.
Is there a way to prevent access to the hosts file using SelfControl so that I am I not able to relapse (Youtube) and edit the hosts file? If not, is this a potentially planned feature?
