We’re using the GADM shapes in Seshat for the background map, could we also use these for the final shapes of Cliopatatria polities? This would have the nice effect on the Seshat website of the Cliopatria shapes ultimately becoming the exact overlays of the background map.
This would end up changing some things in Cliopatria, for example the UK in GADM is the highest level polity rather than commonwealth, and you have the 1st level sub-division being the constituent countries (which we could use for components?). At the moment, in Seshat on the world map you can control Cliopatria component level with the “Display” dropdown and when the GADM background map is selected you can also switch between the full country or “province” which is what I’ve called the GADM 1st level sub-division – e.g. see Afganistan or UK
