Change color temperature range

This example works well to control device capabilities. But how to change the color temperature ranges for devices added through st schema connector. Eg some bulbs require range from 2700-6500 kelvin But using the given devicehandler i can only get a range of 2000-9000 for all devices. Do i have to make a custom device handler/profile? if yes why is there no option to create device profile on IDE for smartthings schema connector
