Due to the vast number of possible DNS providers out there, it would not be a surprise to me, if this becomes a little untenable fairly quickly. In the medium to long term future, we may want to consider implementing a plugin system, where each DNS provider can be maintained independently.
Maintaining each provider separately will come with its own drawbacks and hurdles but, I do think it will eventually become necessary.
For now, we will continue in the early development of the project, including DNS providers as a built-in part of the CLI. This will help iterate early and resolve any larger issues or design changes that may need to be made, while still serving the large majority of users via built-in providers.
In the future
In this discussion board, we will discuss how we will eventually transition to a plugin system, and what that should look like. At the moment, I would plan to look at the Terraform plugin model and attempt to emulate it as closely as possible.
