Issues identified so far:

  • startup script needs to activate the java.xml.bind module
  • VmVersion needs to be adapted to support 9

Instead of having a special case in the startup script, an alternative is to have jab-api on the class path. It is enough to get the server running with Java 9.

And that is not enough. There needs to be a full jaxb implementation.

The following dependencies need to be added for the server to start:

  <groupId>org.glassfish.jaxb</groupId>
  <artifactId>jaxb-runtime</artifactId>
  <version>2.3.0</version>
</dependency>

  <groupId>javax.xml.bind</groupId>
  <artifactId>activation</artifactId>

</dependency>
