Getting the "STA" name of a dbInst?

I want to get the name of an instance as it is in the Netlist & STA- without escape characters baked-in.

In this Tcl script, I can iterate over both the OpenSTA get_cells and the OpenROAD getInsts:

read_db my_db.odb

foreach cell [get_cells *] {
    puts "[get_property $cell name]"
}

foreach cell [[ord::get_db_block] getInsts] {
    puts "[$cell getName] [$cell getConstName]"
}

spm_inst[0]
spm_inst[1]
spm_inst\[0\] spm_inst\[0\]
spm_inst\[1\] spm_inst\[1\]

Is there a way to get the "canonical" name from the DEF name in the db somehow? (Preferably in Python)

I don't know what your input was but I would assume the odb names should match DEF. What are you expecting?

I just need a way to get the Verilog name from a dbInst, i.e the ones without the brackets escaped-- I know that somehow exists considering write_verilog maintains the name without brackets escaped (unless you're translating them back on-write)

There is only one name stored in odb. write_verilog translates on write.
