Defer state doesn't work

Hi all,
Have anyone has issue with using defer feature in the configuration with this plugin and dbt version 1.2.1?
It doesn't give any error but it is not working as expected for us after upgrading dbt and starting using this plugin instead of https://github.com/Dandandan
