Certain bins may have many events, this breaks the assumptions we make.

Assess how many of them there are.
Use simulations to see if they cause a problem
If they do, mitigate them

Mitigation strategies

Using pairings of events (which might be useful for independent reasons)
As post-processing step. Build a Bayesian goodness of fit theory around this example?
