In previous versions, coloured and wood blindwalls would connect on all sides regardless of placement. In the recent update with the new system, they will no longer connect on all sides even if the block is updated. They do connect when placed from the same angle, but do not connect when placed behind connected blocks from the same orientation. This appears to be similar behaviour to the new concrete and acrylic beam blocks.
The metal blindwalls still have the previous behaviour, regardless of block orientation, as do other connected blocks (acrylic, framed acrylic, columned sandstone, framed raw wood).
Is this new behaviour intended or a bug?
