4.0.0-alpha2
This is the first release that will be included in our Demo Framework 4.0 pilot program. If you're reading this: thanks for being an early adopter!
In this initiative, we have worked to greatly reduce the footprint of our codebase and have also improved our content delivery subsystem. We're providing new tools for building Landing Pages and removing cruft from Drupal to clear the path for a clean and seamless demo from end to end.
Importantly, we have moved over to Bootstrap via the Radix theme. We are providing a new sub-theme that is included with the distro called 'One' - it is intended for usage with this distribution as an easy-to-use, color module enabled bootstrap theme that you can easily customize. We provide layouts for this theme that are compatible with the new Layout Builder out-of-the-box.
Demo Framework continues to be a sub-profile of Acquia's Lightning distribution. With Lightning's change to a 4.x branch and adoption of Layout Builder, we have followed suit and have built a starting point that should feel intuitive. As such, you'll need to install with composer e.g. composer install
after pulling down this release.
We are providing a new Scenario (sub-profile) for DF. We recommend starting with this demo profile and working from there. The profile name is dfs_one
so if you're installing from scratch, use drush site:install dfs_one
to get a fully baked demo running. The theme at the moment is space exploration in the not-to distant future. This could change as we release more alphas along the way to a beta release.
We now have a helpful tool in the Demo Framework that is made available by using Content Hub's services in Drupal. This new menu can be found under "Structure" > "Scenarios" in the admin menu of DF. It will allow you to export your own customized copy of the current profile as a JSON file. You can also import these JSON files into another system. This should allow for more easier movement of demos that you build with this system across multiple environments. We are currently testing this system and encourage you to try it out.
Finally, we have said goodbye to many of our previous profiles and some of the Demo Framework Tools that were not well-used in previous versions. If anyone is looking for a previous DF Tool that's now "missing" from the 4.x branch, please reach out to us and we'll find a contrib space for it.
