Why is there no way to change the "(why: No Collection Info)" which is displayed on wayback machine when you click a date? #24

Why is there no (clear) way to change the why: No Collection Info which is displayed on wayback machine when you click a date? Normally it displays info like what bot submitted it or whatever else.

Can you clarify?

I think what you mean is:

  1. Use the Wayback Machine Archiver to archive a page.
  2. Nagivgate to that page's page on the Wayback Machine (for example: https://web.archive.org/web/*/alexgude.com)
  3. Hover over a date and you'll see this, which says something like "why: save-page-now".

And you'd like to be able to set the "why" reason?

That's not possible with the API I'm currently using. If this code was moved to the official API (see #23) it might be.

Yes that is what I was talking about.
