Description

It would be lovely to be able to set a category as collapsed by default.
in my case for example i dont wand my indexers and download clients to take up that much space in the interface.
i know this is a smaller one but i would still love to see it :)

Priority

Low (Nice-to-have)

Hi. I was searching for exactly the same thing.
In my case, I'm making a mini Wiki section or How's to page that I would like to looks like this at first place:

image

to let the user know the content list at glance and choose later which part is interested in

image

I know that my case would work better having a collapsible Notebook widget, but in absence of this I'm using the Category workaround

I mean i've been told by now/found out/confirmed that homarr caches that information so if you collapse it once it will be that way when you next load the page.
I would still like to see it as a feature. Although its not high up in the priority list

Yes, that's true, but it's not for me but for all my users. So, it shouldn't matter how I left the category in my last session, I want the other users finds it collapsed by default (in their first session).
IMO it's important because they would see the points like an index and learn that they can expand the categories at first place, otherwise they find a complex page where the scrolling it's a bit messy and most probably don't discover the collapse/expand feature (because they aren't familiar with homarr)

I would also very much like to see that feature, or maybe the option to set the default state of all categories to collapsed regardless of stored session data, maybe as a variable in .env / docker environment variable, so it stays that way in any browser. This would be very convenient, if you have a lot of categories and don't want to scroll through all of them to get to the one you need.

Btw. same goes for setting the dark theme as default. 🙏🙂
